Information: Staying focused on her campaign philosophy of serving the students of her community, ensuring they are prepared to meet the needs of an ever-changing world and work force has been an ongoing goal of Kathleen (Katie) Robey, a 14-year member of the Marlborough School Committee During her tenure on the committee she has been a member of two school building committees and several search committees; served as a member of Negotiations, Policy, Human Resources and Curriculum subcommittees and as Chair of the Finance Committee and as its Vice Chair for the past four years.

In 2008, she joined MASC’s Board at the vice president level and currently serves as President-Elect. Prior to that, she was the Secretary-Treasurer and then Chair of Division IV. In 2009, she traveled the state with MASC President Debra Bibeau, attending division meetings and new member orientations to meet and talk to new and veteran school committee members. As President, she is continuing to reach out to members, and is a very visible and articulate presence at local and state education forums.

Representing MA, she has attended the NSBA Northeast Region Conference for the past three years, and been a delegate and participant at the NSBA Conference for the past two years.

Ms. Robey continues to serve on the MASC Advocacy Committee and the governor’s Local Government Advisory Council using those forums to raise awareness of education issues at the statehouse. She has been a member of the 2008 and 2009 Joint Conference Planning Committees, the MASC Board of Director’s Personnel and Budget Committees, Chair of the Policy and Resolutions Committees in 2009, and a member of NSBA's Federal Relations Network since 2005.

Involved in the community prior to serving on the school committee, Ms. Robey served on the Public Library Parent's Council, various PTOs, and as a member of a school council. Since her first election, she has remained active in the community volunteering at the snack shack for both Marlborough Semi-Pro and high school football teams, volunteering at the Senior All-Nighter, serving on several mayor’s ball committees, and working on several campaign committees for local office. She is a member of GFWC Marlborough Junior Woman's Club, a local volunteer service organization, and was president from 2005-2008.

Born and raised in Missouri, Ms. Robey and her husband, Eric Baur, moved to MA in 1983. They raised two children, both graduates of Marlborough Public Schools, one a graduate of Georgetown College and the other a freshman at University of California at Santa Barbara. She and her husband still share their home with assorted cats who continue to teach them the fine art of napping. Ms. Robey works as a proofreader at a local newspaper and has been employed by a local specialty food market for the past five years.
