Green Repair Program

The Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) is opening the process for the submission of Statement(s) of Interest (SOIs) for the Green Repair Program.  The Green Repair Program is for the repair or replacement of roofs, windows and /or boilers in public school facilities that are structurally, functionally and educationally sound except for the condition of their roof, windows and/or boiler.

If a public school facility needs more extensive repair or renovation work – such as upgrades to electrical, plumbing or fire/life safety systems, renovation of interior spaces, improvements related to modernizing educational spaces, additional spaces based on capacity issues – it is not eligible for funding under the Green Repair Program.  Under the Green Repair Program, grants are only available for repair projects limited in scope to roof, window and/or boiler repair or replacement.

The Green Repair Program SOI process will open August 11, 2010 and close on September 22, 2010.  The MSBA will review properly submitted Green Repair Program SOIs on a rolling basis. The MSBA’s standard SOI process, which allows districts to submit an SOI(s) for more comprehensive school facility issues such as substantive building deficiencies, will be opened late fall 2010.

An award of a grant under the Green Repair Program will not disqualify a district from pursuing other funds from the MSBA for other facilities under the standard SOI process. However, an award of a grant under the Green Repair Program may restrict a district’s ability to qualify for other MSBA funding for the same facility.

If a district is interested in submitting a Green Repair Program SOI, please go to the MSBA web site www.massschoolbuildings.org and click on the SOI Tab along the top of the web page. On the drop down menu, select Green Repair Program SOI. For access to the SOI application, print, complete, and submit to MSBA the System Access Request Form.

If a district has questions about submitting an SOI, please contact Dick Gill at 617-720-4466.

If a district has questions regarding the Green Repair Program and its terms and conditions, please contact Katie Timmins at 617-720-4466.
