
MASC Division II—Metropolitan Chair Ann Marie Cugno (a member of the Medford School Committee), Division IX—Urban Chair Paulette Van der Kloot (also a member of the Medford School Committee, MASC President Dorothy Presser, a member of the Lynnfield School Committee, Medford Mayor Michael McGlynn, Medford Superintendent Roy Belsen and MASC General Counsel Stephen Finnegan congratulate Representative Paul Donato of Medford on receiving the Massachusetts Association of School Committees' highest legislative tribute, its annual Legislator of the Year award.
Representative Donato currently serves as Division Leader having previously served as Chair of the Committee on Municipalities and Regional Government; as Chair of the House Steering Committee and Vice Chair of the Committee on Personnel and Administration. In addition, he has been appointed to the MA Commission on the Status of Grandparents Raising Grandchildren; is a member of the MA Network of Foster Care Alumni Board and an ex-officio member of the Children, Youth and Families Advisory Committee and recently served on the Governor’s Municipal Task Force for Federal Economic Stimulus Funds, Regionalization Advisory Commission and the Special Committee on Child Care and Neglect.
A strong supporter of MASC’s legislative agenda over many years, Representative Donato has been particularly effective in helping to advance Association positions with the legislative leadership and has made himself available to MASC as a resource and guide. On several occasions he has been a featured presenter at MASC programs and workshops, sharing his insider’s perspective on education and municipal issues of concern to members.
