A member of the Amesbury School Committee since 1998 when she was first appointed to fill a vacancy, Mrs. Bibeau has been a passionate advocate for public education and the need for adequate and equitable school funding to support the increased demands of high achievement and accountability mandates. One of the principal organizers of the highly successful "Fund the Future" Statehouse Rally in May, 2005, she served in 2007 as Secretary-Treasurer of MASC, having previously served as chair, vice chair and secretary of MASC's Division I (Northeast Division). She also has been an important contributor as a member of numerous MASC Committees, including: Joint Conference Planning, Personnel, Nominating, Policy, Budget, Athletic Advisory and MIAA Game Officials.
As a member of the Amesbury School Committee, she has served on numerous committees and special study groups, including: Strategic Planning, Superintendent Search, Attendance Officer and Facilities Director Interviewing Committees (chair of both), Health and Safety Committee, Fields, Buildings & Grounds Committee, Crisis Response Review, SPEDPAC liaison, the Mayor’s Transition Team for Youth, Mayor’s Transition Team for Schools, and Collective Bargaining Team Member for two separate contracts for all units of the union (AFT). Mrs. Bibeau has also been involved in wide range of education- related activities within the community, including: Amesbury Improvement Association, Amesbury Alumni Association, Mass. Status of Women Commission, Co-founder “Save Our Stadium” (fought to restore a WPA, Veteran Memorial Concrete Stadium), AES School Council (1993-96), Youth Music Supporters, Amesbury High School (AHS) Sports Booster, Landry Stadium Management, Minor League scheduler, Amesbury Soccer Association, Sacred Heart Parish Kitchen Team, AMS Parent Group member and Talent Showcase Director (3years), Elementary School PTA member and former President, AHS Softball Fundraiser chairperson, AHS Ice Hockey Program Fundraiser Coordinator, AHS Touchdown Club, and the AHS Alumni Association. A small business owner with her husband of a home medical business (Mobility and More, LLC) as well as a part-time administrative support person in the Academic area at Northern Essex Community College, Mrs. Bibeau and her husband are both graduates of the Amesbury Public Schools as are her three children and she spends several afternoons a week caring for the next generation of Amesbury Bibeaus (her two-year-old granddaughter). |
