An online mail list ("listserv" in tech-speak) is a way of having
a group discussion by electronic mail and distributing announcements to
a large number of people. A listserv is very much like a conference call,
except that the conversation comes to you in your email box. Each time
you or any member of the list posts a reply to the conversation, it is
distributed to the email box of every member on the list.
Michael Gilbert, MASC's Director of Information and Technology, serves
as the list's administrator, however messages are not screened before
they are posted. MASC currently hosts two totally separate listservs.
The MASC "mascinfo" list enables MASC school committee members
who are signed up to share information with each other, other school leaders
and members of the MASC staff.
"mascsec" list enables Massachusetts school committee secretaries
and administrative assistants who are signed up to seek guidance, share
information and exchange ideas and resources with one another.
