Ways and Means Committee Budget Hearing Schedule Announced

The Massachusetts Senate Ways & Means Committee will begin state budget hearings during the week of March 6 and continue throughout the month. The House Ways and Means Committee will likely release its rewrite of the governor's budget in mid-April, with floor debate expected the week after public school vacation week.

The schedule and locations for Senate hearings are as follows:

  • March 9: Massachusetts State House, Boston
  • March 15: Everett High School
    Economic Development and Labor & Housing Matters in the Governor's budget bill
  • March 16: Endicott College, Beverly
    Energy, Environment & Transportation line items and policies in the Governor's budget
  • March 20: Worcester State University
    Spending related to public safety agencies, including district attorneys and sheriffs.
  • March 21: Reggie Lewis Center, Roxbury Community College
    Health & Human Services spending; Governor's call for new employer assessments and provider rate caps
  • March 27: Kuss Middle School, Fall River
    Health & Human Services spending; Operations at Department of Children & Families
  • March 29: Old Chapel, UMass-Amherst
    Education and Local Aid Accounts
  • March 31: Massachusetts State House, Boston
    Final public hearing open to anyone who wishes to testify
