Qualifications:
- Licensed, or eligible for and able to be licensed by position start date, as an Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)
- Master’s degree required; doctorate preferred, in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience in PreK–12 curriculum, instruction, and assessment leadership
- Strong understanding of assessment systems, accountability, and data use
- Experience leading professional development and supporting educator growth
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
- Ability to work effectively with administrators, staff, families, and community stakeholders
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may deem appropriate and consistent with state licensure requirements

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with school committee policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include: interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Responsibilities
The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for leadership in the following areas:
- Curriculum and Instruction
- Assessment, Accountability, and MCAS
- Student Learning Data Analysis and Application
- Develop a teacher recruitment, induction, and retention program
- Professional Development and Educator Growth
- Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)
- Title I Coordination
- Student Opportunity Act planning and reporting
- Curriculum Opt-Out Coordination
- Grant Management and Administration
- Educator Evaluation
- Home Education Oversight
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of PreK–12 curriculum and instructional programs
- Coordination of teacher induction and mentor programs for educators in Years 1-3
- Overseeing district assessment systems and accountability requirements, including MCAS
- Supporting principals and instructional leaders through data-informed instructional improvement
- Planning, coordinating, and evaluating districtwide professional development
- Overseeing MTSS structures and alignment of academic, behavioral, and social-emotional supports
- Ensuring equitable access to curriculum and instructional programs for all students
- Serving as Title I Coordinator and overseeing Student Opportunity Act initiatives
- Managing curriculum- and instruction-related grants
- Overseeing educator evaluation systems
- Ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment
- Preparing reports and presentations for the Superintendent, School Committee, staff, and families
- Attends school committee meetings as required
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools
Supervisory Responsibilities
The Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment supervises and evaluates:
- Director of English Language Acquisition
- District Literacy Coaches
- K–12 Subject Matter Leaders
- Grades 9–12 Subject Matter Leaders
- District Head Nurse
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Full-time (1.0); Salary Range: $165,000-$185,000, Benefits, Anticipated Three-Year Contract
– Start date July 1, 2026 or negotiated.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent of Schools according to MA General Law.
