Join Division X for a special virtual Division Meeting/Learning Lunch on Friday, May 29th at noon. This session will review Section 219 of the MASS LEADS Act, signed into law in November 2024, which explicitly identifies the role of school committees in advancing educator diversity and places this work squarely at the governance table. Participants will explore how to translate the law into effective governance practice by examining the requirements of Section 219, recognizing where their district may already be making progress, and identifying two practical governance actions to implement within the next 60 days.
The session also builds on the capacity, shared language, and equity-focused work that MASC has been advancing throughout the year.
OBJECTIVES:
- EXAMINE the requirements of Section 219 and the school committee’s specific role in advancing educator diversity.
- CONNECT this work to the foundation already established by MASC and Division X, while identifying two practical governance actions to implement over the next 60 days.
