The Governor Wentworth Regional School District, located in the beautiful Lakes Region of New Hampshire, is seeking an experienced and collaborative educational leader to serve as Interim Superintendent for a full-time, one-year appointment. The district serves the towns of Brookfield, Effingham, New Durham, Ossipee, Tuftonboro, and Wolfeboro, and provides superintendent services to Middleton. This position offers an opportunity to lead a multi-town cooperative school district committed to high-quality educational programs and strong community partnerships.
Position Summary
The Interim Superintendent serves as the chief executive officer of the district and provides leadership to ensure the continued delivery of high-quality educational programs, sound fiscal oversight, and effective district operations. The successful candidate will work closely with the School Board, administrators, staff, and communities to maintain stability and continuity during the transitional period.
Key Responsibilities
● Serve as advisor to the School Board and implement Board policies
● Provide leadership for day-to-day district operations
● Supervise and support administrators and central office staff
● Oversee budget management and financial planning
Qualifications
● Ensure compliance with New Hampshire laws and Education Department requirements
● Support high-quality instructional programs and student achievement
● Maintain strong relationships with member towns and community stakeholders
● Communicate effectively with families, staff, and community members
● Provide leadership continuity during the interim period
● New Hampshire Superintendent certification or eligibility required
● Prior superintendent or central office administrative experience preferred
● Demonstrated leadership in multi-school or multi-town districts
● Experience in school finance, operations, and personnel management
● Knowledge of New Hampshire education law and regulations
● Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
Terms of Employment
● Full-time, one-year appointment
● Contract dates: July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027
● Competitive salary commensurate with experience
● Reports directly to the Governor Wentworth Regional School Board
