Website Southern Berkshire Regional School District
Nestled in the beautiful southwest corner of Massachusetts, the Southern Berkshire Regional School District (SBRSD) proudly serves the five rural towns of Alford, Egremont, Monterey, New Marlborough, and Sheffield — a close-knit region with a combined population of approximately 7,300 residents.
Founded in 1953, SBRSD was the first regional district in the Commonwealth to offer a fully integrated
educational experience from early childhood through grade 12. That pioneering spirit lives on today in our commitment to providing a high-quality, inclusive, and forward-thinking education for every student.
Our district continues to operate vibrant schools in New Marlborough, Egremont, and Sheffield, where we serve learners from pre-kindergarten through high school. With deep community roots and a long-standing tradition of support for public education, our towns have consistently invested in our schools well beyond the state’s minimum requirements.
Once primarily agricultural, our communities today reflect a range of socioeconomic backgrounds and a shared dedication to fostering student success. Our schools offer a technologically advanced, rigorous, and innovative learning environment designed to inspire resilience, curiosity, and ethical leadership. We are proud to prepare our students to thrive as engaged global citizens in an ever-changing world.
